I know this topic is old, but this is interesting to me so thought I'd reply. I built the Ashlaknights.net and Daoine Sith sites. I built these sites via FTP and notepad haha. During the Ashla years we experimented with a variety of CMS solutions (choosing none because, that was a loooong time ago and integration was tricky and mostly led to unsatisfying results). My day job does require basic data knowledge and application, as well as writing TSQL queries.
